A POST 9/11 WORLD

With the fall of the Twin Towers, rose a thousand questions on Islam and its place in the world today.   Despite the many attempts at grasping Islam, there still lacks a cohesive understanding of what Islam really is, and more importantly who its followers are.

The question doesn’t rest with the minority of Muslim terrorists that seem to have become the poster child for Islam, but rather a billion Muslims that stand in the shadows, and the millions more converting to Islam on a yearly basis. Who are these people and what is their role in today’s world?

We attempt to answer these questions and place a heavy emphasis on addressing the Islamic world itself, and stir within them an awakening to further understand their role and responsibility as a Muslim.

With 1.5 billion Muslims, there is considerable diversity in the range of followers in one of the world’s largest monotheistic faiths. The distinction goes far beyond just secular and non-secular Muslims. Muslims are diverse in not only their faith, but in their culture, their history, their language, and geographical influences. 1.5 billion diverse Muslims that still (with little exception) share parallel lives.

POLITICAL CROSSROADS

The Qudosi Chronicles began with an interest in covering the modern Islamic world and understanding the motivations of a group of people who, despite being worlds apart, still followed set patterns of behavior. But as Islam and its adherents fractioned and political shifts began fusing with religious motivations, it became clear to us that the next step was into the realm of politics.

The growth of Islamism, a political movement to redefine the fundamentals of Western jurisprudence, was first observed in Europe. As predicted, the movement that has gripped Europe is now just beyond the threshold of American society. It brings with it new challenges as we struggle to define ourselves in politically unstable waters. It raises new questions that test the parameters set by our Founding Fathers. With this, it becomes critical not only be aware of Islamist movements but to also have a sensitivity to prevailing political issues.

An international sociopolitical climate charged with religious and cultural tensions has led a number of individuals and groups to adopt a policy of appeasement. The policy of appeasement makes apologies where none are needed and over extends itself to an audience that does not reciprocate the effort. A situation of this capacity is void of truth and therefore all subsequent efforts on its behalf are bound to fail. We have witnessed this failure to the detriment of our own constitutional ideology as free speech is increasingly rebuked under the guise of equality and understanding.

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

Beyond Islamism, we find outright terrorism that compromises our way of life. The events of 9-11 bore testimony to this. The expansion of terrorist networks, the evidence in their increasing refinement and mobility, and the ideology that propagates radical Islamic thought, are clear indicators of a problem that has been gaining ground far before the events of September 11th.

The concerns that directed us were never solely domestic. With globalization thrusting forward at an increasing pace, and with Europe’s recent history already serving as our present, the Qudosi Chronicles addresses issues of international interest to help readers shape a comprehensive view of situations that stretch beyond our boundaries.

SCIENCE AND FAITH

As we advance in technology, we see a greater merge between religion and science. Religious institutions around the world are reaching out more now than ever before the bridge the perceived gap between science and faith.  The Qudosi Chronicles works to recognize these efforts as well as trends in scientific discoveries that can further help us understand our human condition.

THE QUDOSI CHRONICLES

The QC works to facilitate a cogent awareness of the so-termed East-West dichotomy, the commonly referred to “the clash of civilizations”, and finally the labeled “War on Terror”. While these labels hold a degree of merit, the root problem is far more complex.  The QC was created out of a sense of duty and as a direct response to a growing need for truth and constant vigilance. What began as a small blog with only a handful of followers has now grown to include a dynamic team and a loyal following of readers with diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
